Elevate Your Oral Health

Why holistic dentistry is the better choice

Holistic Dentistry is a throwback to when healthcare providers knew their patients and truly cared about their health. With the corporate takeover of dentistry, it gets harder every day for patients to find a practice that prioritizes their health over profits. Profits don’t help patients; caring dental staffs do.

Here at Swiss Biologic Dentistry, we have a singular philosophy: the patient comes first. It’s not just a slogan, it’s what we practice, and we do that in several ways. First off, we prioritize preventative measures and saving as much tooth structure as possible. We do that by using the most minimally invasive techniques possible. Then, we make sure that everything that goes in your mouth is the most biocompatible option available. If a new material comes out that lasts long and is more biocompatible, we’ll switch. We have researched every product we use and we are confident that these are the best options possible. We also know that our patient base wants to avoid X-rays as much as possible, so we use the fewest and safest x-ray technology at our disposal. Finally, we schedule enough time for your consultations and your procedures so neither our staff nor you are rushed.

We’ve created an environment, both physically and procedurally that will change your whole opinion of dentistry. Welcome to how dentistry should be practiced!

While we can do a lot, there are certain holistic dental myths that we would like to dispel. And if you have other questions and are looking for easy answers, we have a lot of those on our frequently asked questions (FAQ ) page. If you have more questions, just call us!  602.956.4800

Minimally invasive techniques are essentially two main ideas: 1) save as much tooth and bone structure as possible; and 2) utilize procedures and technology that  minimize the impacts on the teeth we are working on.

Saving tooth structure is very important to us, and to you, since you only have one set of teeth. No, we cannot regrow teeth yet, no matter what TikTok or social media says. So, we do everything we can to save your teeth and tooth structure.

But, we do work on teeth, and that’s where it is important to use techniques and technology that impact the teeth as little as possible. Any dental work will cause some amount of trauma to a tooth, so it’s important to minimize that with techniques that reduce vibrations and heat gain.

Biocompatibility is at the heart of our practice and at the heart of biological dentistry. Essentially what it means is that every material we use is the safest available and every procedure we do is the least invasive possible.

We research all of our dental materials, while still making sure they last. It does you no good if you have to keep coming in because the material fails. That's not 'least invasive', that's a mess.

For most of our restorations, we use various forms of zirconia ceramicsZirconia is one of the strongest and most biocompatible materials we've ever known. For our cements and filling materials, we use various forms of inert malleable ceramics when possible. They last a long time and do not leach out any unwanted chemicals

Time? Yes, time. It's something you become acutely aware of when you’re sitting in a waiting room; or, if you feel hurried like someone is trying to get you out the door. We respect your time by reducing wait times to a bare minimum. And, we respect you as a patient by scheduling more time than other offices for your procedures and consultations.

Our patients are interested in their oral health and are curious about why we recommend what we recommend. We encourage you to ask questions. Easy ones, sure. Tough ones, we’re ready!

And when it’s time to do the work, just know we always over-schedule the time for each procedure so the dentists and hygienist are never rushed. Quality over quantity!

Trust us, if we could do dentistry without x-rays, we would. The reason we have to use them is that you have all kinds of hidden anatomical parts that can only be seen with x-rays. Every person is different

anatomically, and that includes your teeth! For instance, tooth roots can actually wrap around major nerves in your jaw that would get severed if your dentist couldn’t see them. You don’t want that. Seriously!

We also look at x-rays as a preventative measure as well. We can see problems early and get to them before they become worse. If you only treated problems you see with your eyes, the problem would be so bad that your options would be pretty bad.

And finally, we have taken great care to use x-ray equipment that produces the lowest levels of radiation possible for our diagnostic purposes. Modern technology has done wonders here!

Preventative care saves your teeth and your money; reactive care treats issues that have already happened. Prevention is always the best medicine and we want to prevent decay and infections from happening in the first place. We really do want what’s best for you.

To do preventative care right, you need to have a proper home care routine, which is brushing your teeth with a quality toothpaste regularly, flossing, using a water pic, and watching what you eat.

You will also need regular hygiene cleanings. Your routine can be great and still not be good enough. That’s why it is important to get regular professional cleanings and exams. If something does show up, it’s much better to catch it early rather than late. If something is bothering you, come in sooner rather than later because it’s much better to catch it early rather than late!

Nothing in the body works in isolation. That being said, your teeth and your oral health are sort of like the gatekeepers to your overall health: what starts in your mouth will end up everywhere else eventually.

Everyone has to eat and drink, and any infections, periodontal disease, and toxic materials in your mouth will go along for the ride. But that unholy trio has additional pathways to hurt you: the lymphatic and circulatory system are also there just waiting take them into your organs including your heart and even your brain.

The mouth truly is the gateway to the rest of your body so our philosophy is pretty straightforward, take care of your teeth and oral health and your overall health will greatly benefit you!
